are your sources or people in the mlb circle saying about this, whether, you know, what he says has any truth? >> yeah. there might be some traction to that. you know, for every 50 games a-rod gets suspended, the yankees sustain $7 million. you can do the math. 215 games for the suspension, the yankees say, clear over $30 million for that suspension and that's why people are suggesting to a-rod, yankees in major league baseball saying ban for life. suspend him for as long as possible saving money with him off the field and the suspension, you're suspended without pay. your contract for the time of the suspension is void. so, that's another reason a-rod is saying they were conspireing with major league baseball to keep him off the field to save money if he's not playing. >> all right. andy sholes, thank you for being with us. if you want more information on this and the pending game that a-rod is scheduled to play in tomorrow, go to bleacherreport.com. thanks so much, andy. appreciate it. >> no problem. >>> a big story we're following today, 22 u.s. embassies and consulates closed. ameri

for a player's cheating? on monday alex rodriguez made his season debut shortly after mlb suspended him for using performance enhancing drugs. and he wasn't met with cheers as i had predicted earlier. before the match a-rod said he would appeal the 211-game ban. that is like six seasons. and he called the last seven months a nightmare and the worst time of his life. >> i'm sure there has been mistakes made along the way. we are here now. i am a human being. i have had two hip surgeries, two knee surgeries. i am fighting for my life. i have to defend myself. if i don't defend myself, no one else will. >> true. and then afterward he wiped his butt with an actual hope diamond. i didn't even know they made those anymore. you know what we are going to do with this story? we will discuss it somewhere, probably in -- >> lightning roooooouuuunnndd. lightning round. >> bill, you were at the game last night and i mean the baseball game. >> yes. >> did you get a comment from a-rod because you said you would. >> yes, but i misunderstood what a-rod meant. aaron rodriguez, the guy i brought to the ga

association by no means was that softening there for the statement from michael weiner, the head of the mlb pa after the suspension was doled out where he said a-rod was not treated fairly. they think bud selig went out of his power here. they are going to fight for alex rodrigu rodriguez. >> i like bud selig. the first time the guy used drugs, he broke the rules. he got caught. then he said he wouldn't do it again. then he got caught doing it again. he tried to cover it up and now he's finally caught and appealing. why would you take his side? why would anybody take his side unless they were a union shop steward. >> in this case, that's the case. does anybody who's objective take his side? >> it's not a matter of taking rodriguez' side. he is due rights. he was not going to take the medicine that major league baseball was doling out, swallow it and in essence ending his career. you don't think he's coming out after being out of baseball for two years and say you know what, i'll take my $61 million and go home. in all due respect to bud selig and the owners, baseball profited during the years

with the relationship side of it. you see mlb and nfl and the leagues producing a ton of content. the next frontier is how to take that digital relationship to a deeper level. >> what's interesting to me is we heard about your relationship with the packers. i know of other former colleagues of yours with other relationships with other sports teams that are doing this. the devils experiment two years ago, i remember talking to mike, devils have since changed hands, but it did increase ticket -- for some places, they had a single game ticket issue. and they were trying to get that because hockey's so expensive. the impact of this is pretty fast. because there's little know-how, is that fair to say? >> i think it's interesting that people who care so much about, like, the number of people showing up for the game in aggregate and they have a sense of all those numbers of season ticket holders don't have a great sense of the individual person. >> they don't know who the people are. >> right. having a more finely segmented strategy as the devils go down that road and understanding that, you know, joe is
